Hello, I’m Bec (she/her), a Registered Music Therapist and founder of Music & Me, based in Geelong, Victoria. I’m so happy you’re here exploring how music can support young children and become a meaningful part of your early childhood program.

Music & Me was created from my passion for supporting children through music. Over many years, I have worked alongside children, families and educators across community, trauma, education and disability settings. Drawing on my expertise in music therapy, trauma-informed practice, child development and group facilitation, I established Music & Me so that more young children in my local community could have access to safe, inclusive and engaging musical experiences.

My own love of music began in childhood. Through singing, playing instruments, songwriting and making music with others, I experienced firsthand how music can build confidence, support wellbeing and bring people together. As both a music therapist and a mother of two young children, music continues to be an important part of my life, and I love sharing in joyful musical moments through Music & Me and with my own children.

In 2018, I completed a PhD at the University of Melbourne, and my research continues to inform my strengths-based, trauma-informed approach to working with children, families and educators. I have published peer-reviewed research and presented at national and international conferences on music therapy, trauma-informed practice, and children's strengths and resources. My research reflects my commitment to listening to children's voices, recognising their strengths, and working collaboratively with children and their support systems.

I hold a current Working with Children Check and I have completed Child Safe training through Geccko (Get Early Childhood Compliance Knowledge Online), supporting my commitment to providing an environment where every child feels safe, heard, included, respected and valued.
